The Islanders take down the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center by a score of 2-1. The Islanders take this incredible win in front of fans for the first time in nearly a year . Oliver Wahlstrom continues on his tear, getting his fourth goal of the season and his career tonight against New Jersey. He is now on a five-game point streak, he is turning into the player that every Isles fan has wanted. He played another great game aside from his goal, getting great chances and creating some great plays. Isles Captain Anders Lee has another great game, tallying yet another giving him 10 on the season. He's the first Islander to hit double-digit goals so far.
“I’m kind of falling in love with the details of my game, the little details. I feel like that’s helping. It’s bringing me more enjoyment to the game and I’m thinking less about production and everything.”
-Oliver Wahlstrom
It was a battle of the goaltenders from the beginning, until Oliver Wahlstrom broke the scoreless tie just about a minute into the third period. Unfortunately with less than 20 seconds left in this game, Miles Wood breaks the shutout for goaltender Semyon Varlamov. Tonight would have been his fourth shutout but, unfortunately Wood broke that possibility. Semyon Varlamov picks up his 10th win of the season, playing a great game and rebounding since his unfortunate performance against Pittsburgh.
I’m just focusing on the little details. -Oliver Wahlstrom
Michael Dal Colle made himself visible tonight on the ice and has had a very good season considering his past struggles. He did not get on the scoresheet tonight but still was looking sharp on the ice, tonight being his second game back from injury. Fortunately we got to see Cal Clutterbuck returned to the lineup tonight, he had one shot on goal. Big two points claimed by the Isles in New Jersey. The Islanders now sit second in the MassMutual East Division with 28 points! A great win tonight, the Islanders will play next against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday at Nassau Coliseum.
